Hi, my name is Dean Johanesen and I was born in Lake Ronkonkoma on Long Island, NY. After a number of relocations that took my family to Indiana, Nevada and back to New York, my mother settled in Southampton, NY where I went to middle and high school. I started playing the guitar at 14. I performed in bands with friends and really began to see music as a passion. After graduating High School, I decided to study Jazz Commercial Music Performance at Five Towns College of Music in Dix Hills, N.Y.

I am married to a Florida native Penny Johanesen who I met in NY. We relocated to GA and then to FL after the birth of our son to be close to our mothers that now both reside in FL. We have been married for the last 12 years (together 15) and our son is now 10 years old.

I started an instrument based, hands on music program for preschool children on a volunteer basis while my son was attending preschool. The volunteer job turned into a full time program that I am currently teaching throughout Bradenton and Sarasota FL. The program is called M.I. Music Classes and the web site for more information is www.myspace.com/mimusicclasses.

The Human Condition (my band) was accepted in 2007 to perform during the SXSW (South by Southwest) music conference that takes place in Austin, TX every year. Our CD *five was also chosen as Best CD in Sarasota by the Creative Loafing 2007. The Human Condition is currently performing throughout Florida and beyond and we are getting ready to enter the studio for our next full length CD. For more information on The Human Condition you can visit www.myspace.com/thehumancondition.

I have been writing, recording, touring and performing original music for many years now as well as teaching music during the day. My grandfather, Henry Patrick Johanesen, once said “if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life.” As busy as I am with the preschools, solo performances and with the band I feel very fortunate that I am in that position of doing what I love and that I am also able to be there for my family as a husband and a father to my wife and my son. Life is good.

Adrianne’s CD, “Fun To Be Fit“, is my first experience as a “producer.” The melodies and lyrics to the songs were good from the start and it was a great pleasure to be able to work on and be a part of the music. I really think the kids are going to enjoy this CD as well as their parents. I’m looking forward to sharing the songs with the families and children waiting to hear them.

Thank you for your interest and your time and peace to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Dean Johanesen
